Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, never let it fade away. Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to catch a falling star and be granted a wish on a dull day? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an instant pick-me-up whenever you pleased? It would be easy, effortless, convenient and beneficial.

But have you ever considered the fact that everyone has their own shooting star, right within in your reach? Whether it be a hug from a friend, a chocolate bar, your favourite movie or a simple smile from someone you love, we all have a special moment or object that can make you smile on the darkest days.

If any of you are like me, (and I bet there are some of you!), on rainy days you will curl up in bed and hide from the world. But when I finally gather the energy and find the motivation to get up and make the day a productive one, it turns out to be a great day. You are left with the accomplished feeling of achieving something from a day which could have consisted of nothing but movies and multiple cups of tea.

It gives you a good feeling of knowing you have changed the course of your day and given it a new life! Then there are the days when one bad thing happens and we let it spoil the rest of our day. We focus on the negative events and don’t realize all the positive things that surround us.

We don’t treat ourselves fairly and we don’t give ourselves the time or opportunity to change our current outlook.  Each day we have the chance to find something new out about ourselves and others, the chance to reach a goal, the chance to change a life, save a life or even the chance to make a change. We, as humans and young people have the chance to be what we want to be and the opportunity to make the most of every single day.

Life is unpredictable and we may be confronted with an unexpected twist or bump in the road when we least expect it.  So be prepared – Find your falling star and keep it in your pocket for whenever you need a pick-me-up, a smile, a bit of comfort or some extra laughs. Don’t let rainy days, bad luck or other people stop you from being who you want to be and don’t let them stop you from reaching your full potential.

Set yourself a goal for everyday and set out to achieve it, even if it is as simple of making someone laugh or smile, or lending someone a hand. It could be just the thing that puts a smile on your face and theirs.

Make yourself unstoppable and shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you’ll land amongst the stars.
