ALDAF COMMUNITY INITIATIVES PROJECT FUND


www.tuneinnotout.com is very lucky to be funded by the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation (ALDAF).

ALDAF have just released a new grants initiative inviting schools, Lions Clubs and Community Groups from across Australia to apply for up to $5000 for innovative projects to increase the health and wellbeing of young people in their area so we wanted to let you know about it… check out the info below and apply…

ROUND 1:

Projects that start between January 2012 & June 2012


Expression of Interest closing date 30th September 2011

ALDAF [The Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation] is introducing an exciting new initiative – the ALDAF COMMUNITY INITIATIVES PROJECT.  Expressions of Interest fare invited from schools, Lions Clubs and Community groups to conduct innovative projects which help to increase the wellbeing of young people in their local area.

Grants of up to $5000 will be available for a variety of creative projects.  Suggest an idea that will work for your community or consider one below:

  • The conduct of dances or social events
  • Development of iPod applications
  • Partial support to build skate parks or other entertainment facilities that attract young people
  • Sponsorship of camps or other retreats that give young people opportunities to develop resilience skills
  • Subsidies for young people to do courses (for example first aid, coaching, umpiring)
  • Building of community gardens
  • Sponsorship of charitable events (for example co-ordination of “a-thons” to help re-build local facilities after natural disasters)

Keys to being considered for a grant will be the applicant’s ability to demonstrate:

  • The activities will be drug and alcohol free
  • Involve multi-generational interaction
  • Provide opportunities for young people to help in the organisation and conduct of the project or activity
  • A commitment to
    • meeting with your local Lions or Leos Club (min 2 times)and
    • preparing either an article for the ALDAF newsletter or a vodcast for the www.tuneinnotout.com website
    • providing a progress report and end-of-project report as guided by the Project Coordinator
    • strengthening the Project by involving multiple partners and/or funding opportunities
