School and university holidays are quickly approaching and we all know what that means… We can do whatever we want (score)! Although with all this free time and Christmas just around the corner, here are some cheap alternatives for your much deserved break.
How about a game of Ultimate Frisbee? It’s a combination of Frisbee, netball, touch footy and grid iron, turned into a fast paced action game, trust me, it’s definitely an awesome way to take up some of your holiday time. This super popular game is played in over 30 countries around the world (www.adfa.com) and according to the Australian Disc Flying Association, “all you need is a Frisbee, 8 marker cones, and your friends“.
Not too interested in the sweaty, fast-paced action game? Have you tried a dress swap with your girlfriends? Instead of going shopping and spending all of your hard earned cash, organise a sleepover or a tapas night with your best girls and tell everyone to bring three dresses, handbags, pieces of jewellery – anything that you don’t want anymore.
The aim is to swap with your friends to find new wardrobe worthy items and have a great time. Â Next month is October, National Breast Cancer Month, register your dress swap and raise money to help a great cause. Hint: decorate with pink balloons and make pink cupcakes to remind everyone of what they are donating their money for! Register at www.girlsnightin.com.au. The Breast Cancer Foundation welcomes these events all year long so register and make a difference!!!
Summer is a great opportunity for you to organise a massive group of friends and all float down to the beach! The more the merrier – well that’s what they say – so tell all of your friends, pick your favourite beach, take heaps of water, fruit and snacks… to keep yourself hydrated and the rest will flow naturally. Hint: take a football or a volleyball and play a game in the sun to keep you all from falling asleep in the beautiful sunshine.
Is the beach too far away? Try adding some new colourful plants to your garden and impressing your neighbours with your super gardening skills. With the addition of bright flowers in your garden or on your window sill, you’re more likely to maintain a positive attitude and feel motivated when you take a look at your handy gardening skills. Hint: Bunnings Warehouse always has a great range of cheap colour pots for under $5!!!
There are thousands of things for you to do this summer so don’t lock yourself inside the house and get outside! You know the deal though; keep yourself safe by staying hydrated, wear a hat/sunscreen/a long sleeve shirt/sunglasses and… HAVE FUN
